Minor Surgery Preoperative Instructions

 

 

 

  1. Stop all aspirin, ibuprofen (motrin, advil etc) and Goody powder at least 2 weeks prior to your surgery date.

 

  1. Please let us know if you smoke or have a heart condition

 

 

  1. Bring all of your medications with you on your preop date

 

 

  1. If a preoperative bowel prep is needed your physician will direct you to the bowel prep instruction link

 

  1. Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the day before your surgery. This includes water, mints or gum

 

 

  1. At the time of your preop appointment consent forms will be signed and then you will go to your designated hospital to get your preop blood work. There you will be instructed as to what time you need to arrive at the hospital for your surgery. If your surgery is at University Hospital you will be go to the outpatient center for your preop blood work. The outpatient center is open from 8:30 to 5:30.   1. Do not wear makeup, nail polish, body oils or lotions.

 

 

  1. You will be put to sleep for this procedure therefore you will need to make arrangements for someone to drive you home after surgery and remain with you the rest of the day.
