Pre-Operative Bowel Prep Instructions

1-                 On the day prior to surgery at 12:00 pm, take one bottle of  magnesium citrate by mouth.  You may pick this up at your pharmacy.  This is given to evacuate bowel contents and therefore you should plan to remain close to home after taking this.

2-                 Clear liquids may be consumed on the day prior to surgery until midnight.  You are not to eat or drink anything after midnight on the morning of your surgery.

3-                 Before bedtime, use a larger Fleet’s enema to cleanse the lower bowel.  You may get this from your pharmacy also.

4-                 When you check in for surgery, you will be taken to the pre-operative holding area.  I will see you there before you are placed under anesthesia.
