John P. McDonough, MD

Dr. John Paul McDonough joined OGA in 2006. After graduating from medical school at the Medical College of Georgia, he moved to Maryland where he completed his Ob/Gyn residency at George Washington University in Washington, DC. He then joined Annapolis Ob/Gyn, a busy private practice in Annapolis, Maryland where he developed his interest in laparoscopic gynecologic surgery.

In 2001 Dr. McDonough and his wife, Colleen, returned to Augusta with their three children Grace, Jack and Hannah. He worked as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Georgia before joining OGA. He has maintained his dedication to academic medicine and to teaching medical students by remaining a Clinical Professor at MCG.

 Dr. McDonough’s areas of interest include minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, operative hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and general obstetric care. His practice goal is to provide excellent patient care utilizing new and innovative technologies.
